Olivia Jo Berger
Founder of OJo Learning
Olivia Jo Berger is a Professionally Licensed Elementary Educator with experience leading innovative workshops for teachers, as well as engaging learners in the classroom. She received her undergraduate degree from Bard College and graduated with her M.Ed. from Lesley University. Her background and Master's Degree in Elementary Education and Creative Arts in Learning, along with her expertise in Social-Emotional Learning inform her mindful, but direct approach in her practice.
Having the opportunity to work with and teach in schools during their founding years, Olivia played an integral role in designing policy and building culture. She forged relationships with a wide range of experts in the field of elementary education who she still works with closely. Her professional development workshops include research in best-practices, but also hands-on engagement because adults learn just like kids: through doing. She recently worked to prepare future teachers for the field as she served as an Adjunct Instructor in Marist College's Department of Education in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Olivia holds the deep belief that relationships, investigation, and discovery are the foundation for successful learning. Her tutoring sessions are designed to spark curiosity and are always tailored to meet the interests, learning preferences, and academic readiness of the student. Even over video sessions, building a trusting relationship where laughter and courageous questioning is the norm is essential for student growth, especially when the work is rigorous.
Olivia's students all know 2 things about her:
1) She loves learning about, eating, and sharing cheese!
2) She always says that if something is challenging, that means that your brain is getting a workout!
Your brain is growing!
A life long learner herself, Olivia is currently continuing her own education as she takes classes to become a
Certified Trauma Professional.
